• Barca Troubled by Premier League!

Despite starting their reloading plans well before the 2008-09 season concluded, Barca have not made any progress after one and half months of transfer talks.

The club’s once vast wishlist has been reduced to just David Villa, with the search for a taker for Samuel Eto’o going nowhere as well.

With just one week before the start of pre-season training, El Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona are desperate to get both deals done.

The paper quoted Barca vice-president, Rafael Yuste saying, “Everything is under control. We are doing things with a more tranquillity now.”

However, no one seems to be convinced by the claims of Yuste.

The Spanish press have reported that Villa is now on his way to Valencia for showdown talks regarding his departure from Valencia after La Blaugrana were rumoured to have offered approximately €40 million last week.

Brazil player Kerrison is also set to be unveiled soon as well.

Barca are also in the midst of resurrecting negotiations with Manchester City for the transfer of Samuel Eto’o. The deal was reportedly off after Sky Blues manager Mark Hughes decided to pull the plug on talks after negotiations were going nowhere.

However, City’s bitter rivals Manchester United are set to table a bid for the Cameroonian, and Barca are hoping that this will spark the Sky Blues into action, aiding Joan Laporta in getting something for a player who could just walk away on a free next offseason.

La Blaugrana are still locked in talks for Felipe Luis and Javier Mascherano as well, if reports are to be believed, but negotiations for both players have gone south in recent days.

Barca coach Josep Guardiola is also hoping to acquire another centre-back, though Henrique could prove to be adequate after his loan stint at Bayer Levekusen.
